Skin tone and plus size dancewear

Have you had problems finding dancewear that fits you not just your size, but you’re shade or complexion, your personality, and THEN your size? Well I definitely have an answer for that after searching and trying dance stores all around the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. I found a Dance store that I can call home- Washington Dancewear (located at 7933 Central Ave. in Capitol Heights, Maryland 20743) has been my go to since they crossed my google search. From those last minute strap pops and dead shoes to new in advance orders personalized to my own style and liking by the vendors and brands they carry. I have yet to have a bad thing to say! The process is simple, you can walk, drive, catch the bus, train, or even Uber- you’ll find good parking, maybe even place a meal before you go in at one of the convenient food locations nearby. Once you go in is where the fun really begins! You are greeted right as you enter by smiling staff ready to help you with whatever you need. They instantly ask if I’m looking for anything or need help and they’ll even pull up my name, number, or email in their system to help find previous sizes and styles I have purchased before. If I tell them I need shoes, they seat me on a comfy and stylish bench, give me try-on footies (they are very sanitary in there), and let me try on however many shoes I need- no matter how many sizes or shades I want to try or how many questions I may have. They will even do so much as get on the floor and touch my feet in the shoe(s) to make sure everything feels and looks as it should. If I need to try something on, they don’t hesitate to become my own personal stylist, helping me pick out outfits for a photo shoot, matching my sizes perfectly, allowing me to try on garments in their spacious fitting room, and even encouraging me and building my confidence with a fun and harmless in-store fashion show. If for some reason someone decided to buy something I need- they place special orders and offer in-store pickup or home delivery, they let me sit for hours browsing through the vendors they have and allow me to buy and order things that aren’t offered in store, and depending on the company- custom orders! The music is always vibrant and family friendly and I almost never want to leave. Sometimes I even catch them on sale days or random customer appreciation days with discount treats AND treat treats (yum!). As I end my shopping experience, their amazing staff ring me out- reading everything back to me to make sure I got everything I need, and aren’t getting anything I don’t. And they always somehow remember my name from when I first came in and apply it to every order so I can always go back to know what I purchased before. I won’t shop at another dancewear store or Amazon failure as long as WDW is around!
